Can a Portable Fragment Bookmark be updated by a user other than the creator?

Hi All,

So here is my dilemma.  Portable Fragment Bookmarks are a great way to implement a collaborate BI app whereby users can create visualisations that can be VIEWED by other users (as long as they have view access to the bookmark folders where the bookmarks are stored).  Similarly, I would have expected that as long as a user had edit rights to the appropriate bookmark folder, they should be able to UPDATE Portable Fragment Bookmarks contained in that folder, even if the bookmarks have been created by another user.

Normally, an existing Portable Fragment Bookmark can updated by overwriting it with the following script statement:

Bookmark.PortableFragmentBookmark.saveBookmark(groupIdentifier, selection, title?, description?, image?, toOverwrite?, appIdentifier?)

The toOverwrite parameter, if specified, is the Bookmark ID of the bookmark to be updated/overwritten.  In this context, here is what I've experienced when testing:

1.  If the above saveBookmark() statement is executed when the logged in user is THE SAME user that created the Portable Fragment Bookmark, then the existing bookmark is updated as desired;

2.  If however, the above saveBookmark() statement is executed when the logged in user is NOT THE SAME user that created the Portable Fragment Bookmark, then instead of the existing Portable Fragment Bookmark being updated, a completely new bookmark is created for the logged in user.

What I would like to know:

1.  Can anybody else confirm/replicate this behaviour?

2.  Is this behaviour by design or is it likely to be a bug?

If this behaviour is indeed by design, then it would seem to me to be inconsistent or incompatible with the Lumira/Design Studio convergence strategy, given that Lumira Global Bookmarks (the Design Studio equivalent of Portable Fragment Bookmarks) are bookmarks where "Any user who creates them or has access to the document containing these can View/Edit global bookmarks (based on his rights on the document)", as stated in the post Bookmarks in SAP Lumira

I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,

Mustafa.
