I have design studio 1.5 (Version 15.0.6) and SAP GUI for Windows 7.4 Compilation 2. Connection as not visible in DS even though I can access the BW system using SAP GUI. When I click the launch SAP logon logo in tools>preferences>backend connections, SAP GUI opens up. The connections are displayed in SAP GUI but not in Design studio.
As mentioned in Connection maintained in SAP Logon are not visi... | SCN thread, DS 1.5 does not create the ini file and hence I could not find it. But since I am using DS 1.5, it should be compatible with SAP GUI 7.4 due to the xml file. The common folder only has two files which is the SAPUILandscape.xml and SAPUILandscapeGlobal.xml file. I don’t have the SapLogonTree.xml file.
As mentioned in https://scn.sap.com/thread/3710976 I deleted the SAPUILandscape.xml file from user>appdata>roaming>sap>common but it did not work for me.
I have also searched through the following threads

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3818788
http://scn.sap.com/thread/3767080
They all talk about the ini file and DS old versions.
I also searched if there is any new patch that I need to install for Design Studio. Could not find any at A- Z Index | SAP Support Portal. I updated my SAP GUI to compilation 2, but it did not help.
I also activated trace log as suggested in some of the post I followed. The TraceLog folder is empty at the following location C:\Users\<YourUser>\Analysis-workspace\.metadata\.plugins\com.sap.ip.bi.zen\TraceLog
According to thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/3767080 , I cant find SAPLandscape.xml and SAPLandscapeGlobal.xml in my system. I don’t have access to any other machine’s ini file to copy.
The SAPUILandscape.xml file has the following:

I have tried my best to solve this issue. I know this is a long question but I appreciate your help.
Thanks,
